Dubai overwhelms you. Literally. Its opulence, its modernism and its blinding pace belies its not-so-old past where it was nothing much than an oasis. Today the city is in a race to make up for lost time. And it is doing a splendid job, one must admit. Once a backyard of the Middle East, it is today the courtyard of the world.
